Welcome! My primary focus is Madera County, with an emphasis on Eastern Madera County and the Foothills... while still including information from nearby counties and communities as they have all evolved and influenced each other. I am slowly collecting, transcribing and posting biographies and other information about area pioneers, so please check the biographies section.

The catalyst for this site is that I have been very frustrated to finally find what might be some tidbit of information, then learn the only way to gain access it is to pay. So I thought I would put up Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst. I will also include information on my own family in the hope of learning (and sharing) more.

My initial work was to list those buried at Oakhill Cemetery in Oakhurst, and include photos. Although I have these photos, the FindAGrave website has grown and improved so much that I recommend going there to search cemeteries. You can also make requests at that site for markers not yet shown. I am able to do a certain amount of census look-ups, and old book searches. If you need a little help with that I'll be happy to help if I can. Just email with info and we'll see what I can come up with. If you would like obituary look ups for the Oakhurst Ca foothill area, I recommend you contact the Sierra Historic Sites Association in Oakhurst. They have obits from the local little paper, The Sierra Star, going back to about 1953. They are helpful, however most employees are volunteers, so if you call be sure to leave and message if no one is working. The phone number is 559/683.6570. Mail to PO Box 451, Oakhurst, CA 93644.
